Goals
  • Provide an introduction to and general information about statistics, trends etc. on the problem of language endangerment
  • Help participants assess where their language fits in the discussion of endangered languages
  • Discuss the importance of language documentation and how we approach the subject in LDTC.
Activity
  • Participants, using a language assessment tool (from Endangered Languages Project), will score their own language.
  • Afterwards, they will discover what other sources (UNESCO, Ethnologue, ELP, etc.) list about their language.
