Protection of and research on cultural property in Mali is significant for cultural exchange between Mali and Japan. To strengthen and develop the exchange, the National Museum of Ethnology and the National Direction for the Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, concluded an agreement to cooperate on protection, research, education and dissemination on cultural property in Mali on May 7, 2014.

Both institutions will collaborate to study archeological sites, implement field work, research, protection and dissemination related to cultural property in Mali by providing technical support and cooperating to publish archeological survey results.

Symposium held to conclude the agreement, attended Vice Minister, Ministry of Culture, Director of the National Direction for the Cultural Heritage, and Professor TAKEZAWA Shoichiro, National Museum of Ethnology
