National government aid to students from the following nations is administered by JASSO: Russia, India, Mongolia, Mexico, Germany, Israel, Finland, Belgium (both Flemish and French-speaking areas), Iceland, Brunei Darussalam, Denmark (both Danish government and Danish language scholarships), China, Australia, Lithuania, Ireland, and Switzerland.
Every year, several outstanding students in the Departments of Regional Studies and Comparative Studies are employed as special researchers to provide economic support while they continue their research. In 2015, two students in Regional Studies and two students in Comparative Studies were selected for this funding.
