Minpaku (i.e., the National Museum of Ethnology where ICHL20 will be held) is located in the World Expo ’70 Commemoration Park (Banpaku Kinen Kōen). To reach the entrance of the Museum requires a 15 minute pleasant walk through the park, either from the Banpaku Kinen Kōen station of the Osaka Monorail or from the Kōen Higashiguchi station of the Osaka Monorail (see map).

For Those Attending from Overseas

Kansai International Airport (KIX) and Osaka International (Itami) Airport are the two airports that are closest to the conference venue. From KIX, ‘limousine’ (i.e., shuttle) bus services are available to various places in Osaka from where you can get transportation to your hotel. Limousine Bus stops are located outside the International Arrivals floor of the Passenger Terminal Building. Tickets can be purchased from ticket vending machines by the bus stops (an assistant is usually on hand to help non-Japanese people use the vending machines).

From bus stop #8, you can take a limousine bus to Hotarugaike (via Itami Airport) where you can get the Osaka Monorail to hotels in the Senri Chūō area (fare: ¥1900 one-way, ¥3400 round-trip, good for 14 days only). The monorail also continues past Senri Chūō to Bampaku-kinen-kōen, where the Hankyu Expo Park Hotel is located. The last bus from stop #8 is 10:30 pm.

From bus stop #3, you can take a bus to JR (Japan Railways) Ibaraki station for access to hotels in Ibaraki (fare: ¥1000 one-way, ¥3000 round-trip, good for 14 days only).

From bus stop #5, you can take a bus to JR Osaka station for access to downtown hotels (fare: ¥1500 one-way, ¥2700 round-trip, good for 14 days only). The Midōsuji Subway line, which is another way to get to hotels in the Shin Osaka, Esaka and Senri Chūō areas passes through the Umeda station, which is directly adjacent to the JR Osaka station. The last limousine bus services that go all the way to Senri Chūō are 8:45 pm and 9:45 pm. (fare: ¥1900 one-way, ¥3400 round-trip, good for 14 days only).' If you miss the last bus from bus stop #5, take the last bus from #8 at 10:30 pm to Hotarugaike, from where you can take the monorail to Senri Chūō (or to Bampaku-kinen-kōen.

Limousine buses from KIX also go to other areas, such as Kyōto (from bus stop #8).
