Special Exhibition Amazing show tents in Japan

Introduction

In Japan, shows of a variety of genres such as saikumono (crafts), karuwaza (acrobatic performances), dobutsu misemono (animal shows), and others have been held mainly in the entertainment areas of cities and on the occasion of festivals of shrines and temples and have successfully attracted people.

This exhibition showcases the various shows from the Edo, Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods through to the modern day with ekanban (theater signboards), nishikie (colored woodblock prints), isshiki kazari (unique decorations made of household utensils), ikiningyo (detailed crafted dolls that look just like real human beings), and other materials.
