Toys Expo-Children in Modern Japan|Introduction

Introduction

From the Meiji Era, Japan introduced technologies and knowledge, established military and school institutions by the nation, and was greatly changed by defeat in World War II. All of those influences affected the children’s status and the view of children held by people at that time. The exhibit investigates children and social changes involving children with toys from the Edo Era to the postwar era.
