This exhibition is composed of the traveling exhibition, “The First Peoples of Canada,” provided by the Canadian Museum of Civilization, and our own collection of prints created by the indigenous peoples of Canada. The traveling exhibition materials at the core of the exhibit introduce the historical and geographical diversity of Canada's indigenous cultures, and the materials collected by Minpaku researchers show art works by the Inuit and other indigenous peoples of the Northwest Coast, including many woodblock prints. The range of artistic expression by Canada's indigenous peoples is demonstrated in the craftsmanship, patterns, colors, and forms of their artifacts and art works, and through this art the unique and fascinating aspects of these cultures are introduced. In addition, the exhibition introduces through videos and photographs the natural environments of the Inuit and the other indigenous peoples of the Northwest Coast, where the creators of these works reside.

• Closing Days: Wednesday (When a national holiday falls on a Wednesday, the Museum is closed instead on the following day.)
• Admission Fees (for both Special and Permanent Exhibitions):

• The following visitors qualify for discounted admission fees (shown in parentheses above): Visitors in groups of 20 or more; university, college, graduate, and vocational school students who use the Museum as part of their course work; those who have visited the Museum within the previous three months; visitors who are 65 years old and over. Please present an appropriate document to obtain the discount.
  • Admission is free for a visitor with a disabled person's pass and also for their attendant.
  • Admission is free every Saturday for primary school, junior high school, and senior high school students. (An admission fee is charged to enter the Shizenbunkaen Park (Natural and Cultural Gardens).
